SAVORY ADDITIONS TO POPCORN

For the best distribution of flavorings, vigorously shake the popcorn and seasoning in the pot with the lid on (paper bags also work well). When seasoning, remember that finer ingredients—table salt rather than kosher salt, for example—will adhere better to a buttered or oiled surface. To turn popcorn into a delectable sweet, see Caramel Corn.

Prepare Popcorn and toss with one or more of the following:

  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted, Brown Butter, or olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper or 1 teaspoon ground chipotle or smoked paprika
  • Up to ½ cup finely grated Parmesan (2 ounces)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic or onion powder
  • ¼ cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon minced rosemary or thyme
  • 2 tablespoons furikake, Za’atar, curry powder, or chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning or crab boil seasoning
