LEFTOVER PASTA CASSEROLE

In the Midwest, this is known as Johnny Marzetti when it is made with meat sauce and topped with 1 cup shredded Cheddar or mozzarella (4 ounces).

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Butter an 8- to 9-inch square baking dish. Heat in a saucepan:

  • 3 cups pasta sauce, such as Marinara Sauce, Meaty Tomato Sauce, or Puttanesca Sauce

Toss the sauce with:

  • 4 cups leftover pasta

Season to taste with:

  • Salt and black pepper

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with:

  • ¼ cup dry bread crumbs
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan

Dot with:

  • 2 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces

Bake until the top is browned, about 30 minutes.
