ESPRESSO OR COFFEE GRANITA
About 3 cups

A classic Italian dessert, served with unsweetened whipped cream. Very strong brewed coffee may be used in place of the espresso.

Combine in a medium bowl:

  • 2 cups hot espresso or strong coffee
  • ¼ to ½ cup sugar, to taste
  • (1 tablespoon amaretto, Frangelico, or sambuca)

Stir until the sugar is dissolved, then refrigerate until cold or quick-chill in an ice water bath. Freeze as described in Berry Granita.
