BAVARIAN APPLE AND HORSERADISH SAUCE
¾ to 1 cup

Delightfully simple, and a marvelous accompaniment for sausages, pork, beef, or fish.

Stir together well in a medium bowl:

  • ⅓ cup grated peeled fresh or drained prepared horseradish
  • ⅓ cup finely grated peeled tart green apple
  • 2 ½ tablespoons lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Cover and let stand for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.

You may serve this as is as a relish-type condiment. For a creamier sauce, stir in:

  • (¼ cup sour cream or crème fraîche)

Garnish with:

  • 1 teaspoon minced parsley
  • (1 teaspoon minced dill or chives)

Serve immediately.
