STEWED PRUNES

Bergamot-flavored Earl Grey tea is especially nice here, providing a tannic contrast to the sweet prunes.

Cover with cold water in a saucepan:

  • 1 pound pitted prunes

Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer gently for 20 minutes. Add:

  • ¼ cup sugar, or more to taste
  • (2 bags Earl Grey tea)
  • (½ lemon, sliced)
  • (1 cinnamon stick)

Cook 10 minutes more. Serve warm or chilled.
