This cocktail’s namesake is a 1922 silent film about a matador whose career ends predictably. Making this cocktail is, fortunately, a pursuit less likely to end in tragedy.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Add:
- 1 ½ ounces blended Scotch whisky
- ¾ ounce sweet vermouth
- ½ ounce Cherry Heering
- ½ ounce orange juice
Shake until well chilled, about 12 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. If desired, garnish with:
- (An orange twist or brandied cherry)
