Mix together in a pitcher:

  • 32 ounces tomato or tomato-vegetable juice
  • One 10- to 11-ounce can condensed beef consommé

Pour over ice in each highball glass:

  • 1 ½ ounces vodka (12 ounces total)
  • ¾ teaspoon lime juice (2 tablespoons total)
  • A dash of hot sauce

Fill with the tomato-consommé mixture. Season to taste with:

  • Black pepper
