This summertime drink is the invention of two close friends, Rachel Ranch and David Browning. They named the drink after a Buena Vista Social Club song.

Muddle in a cocktail shaker:

  • ½-inch slice cucumber
  • 4 basil leaves
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • Pinch of salt

Fill the shaker with ice cubes. Add:

  • 1 ½ ounces Old Tom gin
  • 1 ounce St-Germain elderflower liqueur

Shake until well chilled, about 12 seconds, and strain into a chilled coupe glass. If desired, float on top:

  • (A paper-thin cucumber slice)
